Place reading lamps on bedside tables or nightstands on each side. Streamlined black metal lamps often work well with this look. Create a reading space by installing a Modern-style chair next to a window or in a corner set up for reading. If necessary, a large leather ottoman that opens for storage can be set with the chair. This gives the occupant a place to rest their feet, a place to set a cup on a tray, as well as a place to store blankets or other comforts out of sight.
The color or finish of the bedside table should also complement the decor and color scheme of your room for balance. But who can stop you from choosing an entirely different table? In the past, the bedside nightstand was usually made of pine wood, as it was the most available material but today, there are virtually thousands of bedside tables ranging from antique, Victorian, classic, contemporary, French styles and some even have metal decorations and mirrors. The people may have forgotten its cultural or historical value, but the table remain important and a useful addition to any bedroom.
